How true is the claim made on Twitter that the Kenya Planters Cooperative Union (KPCU) has been turned into a private company?

The tweet reads, “SHOCKING: Kenyans today are waking up to learn that KPCU was turned into a Private Company.”
Kenya Planters Cooperative Union is a state cooperation under the State Department for Cooperatives, which falls under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Co-operatives. It was incorporated on 4 November 2019, to come to the aid of milling, warehousing, and marketing farmer's coffee.
The Business Registration Service (BRS) has, however, dismissed the claim in question, clarifying that the “New Kenya Planters Cooperative Union is registered as a Public Limited Company (PLC) and not a Private Limited Company.”

The NKPCU has not made any official communication on the matter.
Velma Writes has looked into the claim that KPCU has been registered as a private company and finds it to be false.
